You Enjoy the Ride.
Trying to get to where you’re going and you enjoy the ride. The weather’s delicious, you can’t bare to stay inside. Windows open and the music’s blasting loud. Shoot your head through the sunroof, and you can almost touch a cloud. Wind is whisping through your hair, and you think to yourself, “It’s okay that I’m not yet there”. You enjoy the ride.

Dear 2012:
I’m going to move quietly and confidently.
I am going to work towards my dreams.
I am going to cut out distractions.
I am going to focus on those who are important.
I’m going to love wisely and truly.
I am going to give.
I am going to say what’s on my mind.
I’m going to respect myself, my body.
I am going to write.
I am going to read.
I’m going to learn more...

I just have something to say.
You know that moment in a movie where a person is having a freak out session? The one where the person looks to their left and sees something shocking or disgusting, and makes that STUNNED, horrified face (with the dramatic STUNNED music that just intensifies everything). And then the person looks to the right, and what’s happening over there is slightly worst and the camera pauses for...

Some of the most sacred moments in life happen when we gather around the table....
– Shauna Niequist.
When I read this by Shauna Niequist, author of “11 Things to Know at 25(ish)” I nearly jumped out of my seat. I don’t know why I’m so passionate about it. Actually, I do know. And this is not coming from my inner fat girl, although eating is obviously one of...

4 Seconds.
You’re running up to the double doors, already drenched with wet kisses from the sky. You feel them as they seep slowly in between your toes, reminding you that you didn’t prepare yourself properly for today. You reach for the cold metal and pull lightly. There’s a loud click. You feel his force and let go. He’s on the other side pushing, and you maneuver just a little...

Old Love.
I’m a serious people watcher. That’s how I come up with a lot of the things that I write, simply by observing other’s actions and interactions. The metro is one of the best places to people watch. There’s always someone sleeping with their mouth open, or a parent disciplining a child, or a boy hitting on a girl, someone selling perfume, a woman begging for money with her...

Live Your Life: Top 5 Regrets of the Dying
November was an amazing month for me. I have to thank the alcohol I have consumed that made me give less f*cks and the friends who love me for the crazy girl that I am. And the people who don’t judge me for my thoughts. And I thank God for the new realization that I am on this Earth for only a short amount of time, and I’d rather live doing exactly what I want to do than what everyone...

You Had to Be There
I imagined what we looked like from the sky that day. Tiny dots, moving in between skyscrapers and buildings, excusing ourselves, dancing at stop lights to pass the time, crashing into other people. We walked fast, but from the sky we weren’t covering much ground.
Our worries seemed so big before we got to New York. Bills, boys, grades, jobs, lack thereof, but here in New York, we were lost...

Don't Overthink: Just Do or Surrender.
I wrote a story and had it workshopped in my class a couple weeks ago. A line from one of the characters: “I get too into my head sometimes. I think too much.” Something along the lines of that, and my teacher said “No.”
He hated that line. He told me that you can’t trust people that say they think too much, because it’s usually not thinking too much. Not to say that the person saying they...
